Description

Palm fiber is palm oil waste produced from processing palm fruit squeezes during the pressing process which is short in shape like thread and brownish yellow in color. Every 1 tonne of palm oil can produce palm fiber of about 12% - 13% or as much as 120kg - 130kg.

Beberapa manfaat serat kelapa sawit yang digunakan saat ini, sebagai berikut :

• As an alternative to biomass energy to replace diesel and coal as fuel for steam power plants.
• As a material used for the pulp industry.
• One of the ingredients to increase soil fertility.
• As a medium to reduce the content of BOD, COD and TSS in liquid waste.
• As a reinforcement for the mechanical properties of glass fiber composites (still in the research and development stage).
